Weekly Update 6/23/15

Well this has been an eventful week and I am TIRED. We did our Glow Run on Friday, and I beat my personal best time by 10 minutes. We had a crazy trip trying to get to the run. We ended up getting there with just enough time to grab our numbers and get to the start line. It was fun seeing all the people with all the glowy stuff on, especially the light-up tutus! I finished my walking 5k in 1 hour, 4 minutes and 35 seconds. And I wasn't last! My husband did even better, since he had to park the van and started 7 minutes late but he caught up and finished with me. My friend took a picture of me at the finish line but my phone won't let it go grrrrr.

My sister and her daughter came home with us after the race, and spent Saturday and Sunday. I took my niece and my daughter to the beach Saturday. It seemed to me there weren't very many people in the water. I guess people are maybe a little spooked by the shark attacks in North Carolina. I just remember that it is the the shark's home we are invading, and they are there all the time and yet we so rarely see them.

6/16/15 update and upcoming Glow Run





Last week I said that I was having trouble with my Red Hot Core workout and somebody gave me help with it. She gave me some modifications to try, and they worked so I am on my way with it. This is huge, I have been practicing DDP Yoga for 2 years and 3 months, and never could do this basic routine. I have done it 3 times now in the past week. If you read this, Thanks Cat!!

This week is my Glow Run in Williamsburg. I am excited! I am going with my husband and 2 kids, my sister and niece, and my friend and her kids. Williamsburg had better watch out! Also I think we bought out the entire stock of glow necklaces and bracelets on the Eastern Shore. I can't wait!

The best news yet, I am down 5 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks! I literally sat down and cried. Last year was so frustrating to me, trying so hard and not losing any weight at all. In my head I understand that I was building muscle, but that does not stop the frustration. I just kept my head down and kept practicing my yoga. Also I spent the year trying to work on cleaning up my diet. Things have finally fallen into place to a point that my exercise and my diet have started working together again, like they have not done since before my son was born 15 years ago. I have energy like I do not believe, too. I do not say all this to brag, far from it. I say for my own accountability and to encourage others who may be in my situation for whatever reason. Do not lose hope! You can do it!

So I didn't input my weight before fitbit sent the report for the week so it won't show up until next week. Down to 307!

Weekly FitBit update 6/9/15

Thought for the day: You cannot simultaneously train and lose weight.


I haven't been up to much this week because it has been too rainy. I did go to the mall in Salisbury MD on the day when it rained the worst though, and walked around and around until I got my 10,000 steps in. Ok, Salisbury is an hour and a half away, so walking in the mall was not the main reason I went, but hey it worked out! Plus I scored a new pair of Teva-style sandals.

 I have gone totally blah in cooking. No inspiration whatsoever. This is mainly bad because when I am busy outside with yardwork, or walking, or whatever excuse I can come up with, then it gets too late to cook and you guessed it.. take out. No Good. Even though I did get a Strawberry Fields salad from Wendy's one of those nights. It was really yummy, but an hour later I was starving. I need to get back in the groove! I have been doing so well on losing weight, but I'm afraid that the sore foot and not cooking for myself will stop that in its tracks. However, my foot is feeling much better, and as long as I don't overdo it, I am back to be able to walk my 5k route in 1 hour 10 minutes. That's great, since my first 5k since I was a teenager is coming up next week! Shameless plug: I am still looking for sponsors for my team's entry fees!

I got some helpful tips for my DDP Yoga practice on a workout that I have been absolutely unable to do. I am going to try them out this afternoon and see how far I can get. I'll let you know how that goes.
